This sits right outside the door to the tasting room at Louis M. Martini http://www.louismartini.com/. It is just a tiny painting, but one of two I did of the winery. Monday, June 9, 2008

As you walk in to Louis M. Martini Winery http://www.louismartini.com/, this custom gate greets you. It is my first attempt to paint a gate. It is not easy.

When we visited Whitehall Lane http://www.whitehalllane.com/ the wisteria were in full bloom. It was amazing, and it is something you only experience for a few peak days. The flowers were incredibly fragrant. In this painting, I tried to capture the wisteria, and contrast the purple with the yellow of Whitehall's stucco facade.

I used this painting as the decoration for the back of my 2007 Christmas card. I always try to make my own personalized cards. In 2008, I sold this little painting online- one of my first online sales! My inspiration for this painting was a curtain I saw in a paint colors catalog. It seemed like a cross between a circus tent, a medieval tapestry, and a pennant flag. I thought to add the lettering to the triangles. I have so many of this kind of mini-painting in my mind, but I often forget them before I get brush to paper. If only I had all day to paint!
